Alice Kapura

August 11, 1933 — October 2, 2024

Greensburg

Alice A. Kapura, 91, of Redstone Highlands, Greensburg, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, October 2, 2024.

She was born in Mammoth, a daughter of the late Paul H. and Marie (Flowers) Weir.

Alice graduated in 1952 from the former Hurst High School and began her working career at Amco Clothing Factory in Norvelt.

On July 21, 1956, she married her love, Joseph M. Kapura. It was a marriage that lasted over 61 years until he passed on May 18, 2018.

In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother Alice also worked various part-time jobs over the years, the last including Hempfield School before leaving to help take care of her grandchildren.

She was a member of Our Lady of Grace in Greensburg.

She had many hobbies, including sewing, especially making beautiful dresses for her daughters and flawless embroidery work. However, it was her cookie baking that she will be most remembered for. Holidays, weddings and special events were always filled with treats made by her loving hands.

She was an avid reader, loved doing puzzles, and making the holidays special for her family.

She will be sadly missed by her daughters Mary Biagini of Greensburg, Jacqueline (Stephen) Samek of Jeannette and son Joseph Kapura of Blairsville, grandchildren Ashley and Stephen Samek, Nicole (Travis) Cox and great-grandchildren Devin and Ethan Cox. Additionally, she is survived by her brother Paul Weir of Homestead, Mary Lou (Edward) Zimmerman of Youngwood, and son-in-law Jeff Davis of Greensburg, and sister-in-law Christine (Leona) Weir of Mammoth

She was preceded in death by her daughter Karen Davis in 2022 and son-in-law Edward Biagini in 2016. Additionally, brothers Frank, Thomas, Elmer, Raymond and James Weir, and sisters Rebecca Hibbs, and Rose Marie Domasky.

The family would like to express a deep and heartfelt thank you to God’s angels on Earth, the nurse’s aides, staff and hospice support of Redstone Highlands. Their dedication and support have been a true blessing.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, October 4, 2024, from 3-7pm at the HOFFER WILT FUNERAL HOME, 2245 Mount Pleasant Rd., Norvelt, where Vigil Prayers will be offered at 6:45pm. Transfer Prayers will be offered at 10:30am Saturday, October 5, 2024, in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am at St. Florian Church by Fr. John Sedlak.
