Alyce Kae Harman, Mt Pleasant passed away Sunday October 3,2021 .Originally from Zerbe/.Tremont , Pa. She was a devoted wife and best friend of Lowell Harman for 61 years. She lived a full life of devotion to family and to worthy causes, among them the Nature Conservancy, National Wildlife Federation, Defenders of Wildlife, and several others. Alyce took a special interest in the welfare of children and was a supporter of such causes as Mercy Ships, St. Jude Research Hospital and Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation. She was quietly sensitive and compassionate with family and worthy charities. Alyce is with the Lord today, I know. She came to Washington D.C. in 1962 to join the Library of Congress, working in several areas including Cyrillic, where translation from Russian to English is done, and rare books, which houses such collections as Thomas Jefferson’s Library from Monticello. Her husband's work required frequent travel and Alyce Kae always welcomed any opportunity to travel with him, visiting several countries around the world, on many occasions. In the last brief months of her life, Alyce Kae was a resident at Walnut Ridge Memory Care. Even there, her high spirit was evident, always wanting to go, go, go, and welcoming her visitors. Alyce is in care of Jay A. Hoffer Funeral Home, Norvelt. Family and friends are welcome Saturday October 9, 2021 at 11 A.M for her graveside service at Fairview Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant township, with Pastor Scott Leichliter officiating.
