Augustine “Auggie” J. Kopcho, 83 of Tarrs, formerly of Southwest, passed away Monday, June 13, 2016 in his home. Born February 10, 1933, he was the son of George and Christine Mizenko Kopcho. Auggie was a truck driver for Sosko Trucking. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant. For many, many years he tended bar at Hecla Sportsmen’s club and also at Grabiak’s Bar, of which he and his wife were part owners. Auggie was a Corporal in the US Marines, having served in the Korean War and was active in Amvets Post 94 and Armbrust Veterans Association. He was also a member of Hecla Sportsmen’s and a social member of Hecla Fire Department. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Leonard. He is survived from by his wife, Lillian Grabiak Kopcho, with whom he would have celebrated 58 years of marriage this week; children Mark (Sue) of Mechanicsburg, Leslie Sue Lipko of Acme, Timothy (Kristin) of Mt. Pleasant, David (Devon) of South West, and Sean Kopcho (Brett) of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren Sara, Ian, Stephanie, Matthew, Jessica, Collin, Ryan, Christopher, Rachel, Alex, Nathan, and Van; and great grandchildren Audrianna, Connor, Milo, Maverick, Owen, Levi, and Hayden. He is also survived by his brothers Richard (Mary Ellen) of Buffalo, NY, Ronald (Mary Ann) of Mutual, and Regis (Annie Maricondia) of Mt. Pleasant and nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received from 6-8 pm on Wednesday and 3-8 pm Thursday in the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, 2245 Mt. Pleasant Road, Norvelt. A wake service will be held, 3 pm Thursday in the funeral home. His funeral services will begin 9:00 am Friday in the funeral home with the Armbrust Veterans Association and a blessing service at 9:15 followed by his funeral mass at 10 am at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rev. Richard Kosisko celebrant. Interment to follow in St. Pius Cemetery with military graveside honors.
