Betty Marie Garrison

Betty M. (Akins) Garrison, 83 of Brookville formerly of Norvelt passed away Friday, January 31, 2015 in Clarion Hospital with family by her side. Born May 1, 1931 in Greensburg, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Laura (Garris) Akins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband George Garrison, November 12, 1994, a brother and sisters. Prior to retirement, Betty was employed by Old Republic Ins. Co.. She was a member of St. Paul Reformed United Church of Christ, Trauger. Betty was the loving mother of a daughter Deborah L. Gorton and husband John of Brookville with whom she made her home and a son Gregory A. Garrison of Norvelt; loving grandmother to four grandsons John Michael Gorton and his wife Becky of Armbrust, Keith Gorton and his wife Melissa of Norvelt, Gary Garrison of Connellsville, Scott Garrison and his fiancé Cara of Latrobe and five great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister Vi Robinson of Denton, TX and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, 2245 Mt. Pleasant Rd., Norvelt, 15674 where her funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday with Rev. Richard L. Seigfried officiating. Interment to follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant.
