Carl F. Schachte

Carl F. Schachte, 88, of Mt. Pleasant, formerly of Hecla, died Saturday, November 28, 2015 in the Harmon House Care Center with his family by his side. Carl was born May 10, 1927. He was the son of the late Frank and Martha Freidline Schachte. He was a former employee of Permali, Inc and Mike Martin’s service station. He enjoyed playing the lottery and bingo. Carl was the oldest surviving member of the Trauger Firemen’s Club and was a member of the Good Shepard Lutheran Church of Mt. Pleasant. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Virginia (2012), a daughter Kathleen Snitzer (2014), a grandson Jason, and great grandson Landon, three brothers, Eugene, Frank, and Don and Three sisters, Betty, Elsie, and Regina. He is survived by his children Sue (Dennis) Hilty of Norvelt, Timothy (Sandy) Schachte of Alverton, and Carla (Wilbur) Bussard of Mt. Pleasant, Son –in-law Jim Snitzer of Acme, 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, two brothers Charles and Ray, two sisters Nancy and Joan, and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received from 2-8 pm on Monday, November 30 in the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, 2245 Mt. Pleasant Road, Norvelt, PA 15674. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday in the funeral Home with Rev. Karen Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Trauger. The family would like to extend appreciation to the staff of Harmon House Care Center for their care and compassion.
