Edith R. Melago, 95, of Calumet, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019, at Excela Westmoreland Hospital in Greensburg. She was born Oct. 16, 1923, in Calumet, the daughter of the late John and Mary (Kowalski) Urbanowski. She attended Hurst High School in Norvelt. A lifelong resident of Calumet, she worked as a seamstress for many years, including at the former Amco plant in Norvelt. She was married in 1943 to Albert Melago at St. Stanislaus Church in Calumet. He preceded her in death in 1985 after 42 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by a stillborn child. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Mufalda Melego; and a number of nieces and nephews, including Dennis and Joseph Malego, of Mt. Pleasant; Janice (Malego) Steinhagen, of Griswold, Conn.; William Melego Jr. and Gloria (Melego) Campbell, of Latrobe; Mary Beth Martin, of Mt. Pleasant, Patricia Steele, of Greensburg, and Judy Steving, of Ohio; and William Malinish and Pamela (Malinish) Ashbaugh, both of Norvelt. She is also survived by her companion of many years, William "Guy" Seman; her beloved neighbor, Kathleen Sabo of Calumet and her family; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. The family will welcome callers from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, at JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME in Norvelt. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at St. Florian's Church in Norvelt. Burial will follow at St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Calumet.
