Edmund Gayle Davis, husband and father, 87, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2022, at Mountain View Memory Care, Greensburg. He was born Jan. 22, 1935, in New Alexandria, to the late Kenneth R. and Zona Belle (Morrow) Davis fifteen minutes before his parents first year anniversary. He attended Derry Area #7, while living on the George Baily Farm from 1940 until April 1942. The family relocated to Mt. Pleasant April 19, 1943. He attended Mt. Joy School through grade 7 and grade 8 in Norvelt. He attended Hurst High School where he was elected class president for his Freshman and Senior years. He attended Penn State University where he enrolled Sept. 1953 and graduated in June 1957 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Edmund accepted an engineering position with Robertshaw Controls Research Center of Irwin in June 1957. He reported for U.S. Army service in 1958 and served two years on active duty in Maryland Chem Center followed by four years active duty reserve service. He retired from Robertshaw Research in Jan. 2000. He was a member of the Elks Lodge where he spent 10 years as treasurer. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 yeaers, Mary Ann (Harouse) Davis whom he married in 1961; a daughter, Jessica Marie Davis; infant daughter, Linda Sue Davis; and a son, Christopher R. Davis; two brothers, Ronald and Roy Davis. He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer A. Suroviec and her husband, Eric, of Waterford; a sister Lois Ham; two brothers, Kenneth (Bertie) Davis, and Robert (Barbara) Davis; as well as several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, 2022, and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, 2022, in the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, 2245 Mt. Pleasant Road, Norvelt, PA 15674. Parastas will begin at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, 2022, in the funeral home. The Panachida will begin at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2022, in the funeral home, followed by the Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m., in St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Trauger with Father Paul-Alexander Shutt, OSB, as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Trauger. Military honors will be rendered at graveside by the Armbrust Veterans Association.
