Edward Clarence Rhodes, 75, of Greensburg, died Thursday, March 31, after a courageous, 3-year battle with cancer. He spent the days prior to his death surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 9, 1946, in Greensburg, PA, the son of the late Clarence and Kathryn (Fulton) Rhodes of Arona. He was a proud Vietnam War veteran and served in the U.S. Armed Services from 1965 to 1967 as a U.S. Army Sergeant E5 with Company B, 2nd Battalion (12th Infantry Division - B/212). His career as Nature Center Director at Twin Lakes Park for the Westmoreland County Parks and Recreation spanned 33 years. Edward is survived by his wife of 52 1/2 years, Gloria Louise Rubright Rhodes. He is survived by a son, Michael (Lee Ann) Rhodes of Greensburg, and by a daughter, Pamela Thomas (Josh Marsh) of Jeannette; and three grandchildren, Connor Thomas, Katelyn Rhodes, and Justin Rhodes. Family and friends will be received Sunday, Apr. 3, 2022, from 4-8 p.m. at JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, 2245 Mt. Pleasant Road, Norvelt, PA 15674 where a funeral service will take place at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Chris Whitehead of Charter Oak United Methodist Church. Armbrust Veterans Association will conduct military honors at the conclusion of the funeral service.
