Elizabeth Kocinski Popovich Skergan, 87 of Norvelt, passed away Monday, October 3, 2016 at UPMC Presbyterian. She was born January 19, 1929 in Everson and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Kocinski. She was a member of the late St. Stanislaus Parish, Calumet. In her early years, she worked in church activities and belonged to the Mt. Pleasant Senior citizens where she stayed active with line dancing and aerobics. Elizabeth loved her family and enjoyed staying home and watching her favorite soaps on TV. She worked for 18 years at Norvelt Garment Factory “Amco” and 22 years at Westmoreland Hospital. In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by husbands George Popovich and Ed Skergan; good friend Bob Sawyer; and sister Dorothy Hinkey. She is survived by daughter Lu Ann Borowski and husband Tom; grandchildren Kris and his wife Frieda and Jenna Borowski; sister Phyllis Hudak and husband Mike; sister Mary Ann Vasinko; and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Wednesday in the JAY A HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, 2245 Mt. Pleasant Road, Norvelt. Her funeral service will be 11 am Thursday in the funeral home, Rev. Justin Mapro OSB officiating.
