Elizabeth Shay

Elizabeth Ann Shay, 87, of Mt. Pleasant, peacefully entered eternal life on Monday, September 2, 2024. She was born in Hecla (Mt. Pleasant Twp) on July 13, 1937, to the late Charles and Sophia (Drost) Shay.

She was retired from Westinghouse (Powerex)

Known affectionately as “Liz.” Her kindness and generosity were extended to all. She collected angels, wore Jean Nate fragrance, and especially liked “vitamin CC” (chocolate cake)., was a lifelong member of St. Florian Church, she was unwavering in her faith and was a regular Tuesday adorer. Liz had such a quick wit and beautiful smile, made the most delicious halupki, and her famous Russian torte. When asked how she was doing, the response was always the same “Super! No complaints.”

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by brothers, Paul Shay, and Charles Shay, Jr., and sisters, Rita Nye, Madeline Hoffman, Helen Wolfe, JoAnn Dragovich, Catherine Jeffrey, Cecilia Casterwiler and Mildred Overly. She is survived by a brother-in-law Delmar Overly and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at the HOFFER WILT FUNERAL HOME on Friday morning from 9am until the time of transfer prayers at 10:15, Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 AM in St. Florian Church. Burial to follow in St. Florian Cemetery.
