Ellona K. Pendrick 83 of Mt. Pleasant passed away January 13, 2019. Born June 5, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Anna Uschock Mizikar. Prior to retirement she was a registered nurse at Latrobe hospital and St. Anne’s home. She was a lifelong member of St. Florian Church and participated in many church activities. Ellona spent her retired days with her husband Tom traveling, going to polka dances, watching football games, and attending her grandchildren’s’ events. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, card games, Sunday pool parties with her family and was often found in the kitchen cooking where she warmed many hearts with her famous apple pie. Tradition was very important to Ellona, she continued to practice preparing special foods for holiday meals. She spent countless hours teaching these traditions to her children and grandchildren. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by siblings Josephine Holoman, William Mizikar, and Michael Mizikar II. Ellona is survived by her beloved husband Tom of 61 years. She was the loving mother to her 7 children Susan (John R.) Bainbridge, Paula (Jason) Voyce, Nancy (Ed) Stas, Thomas(Chris) Pendrick, Teresa (Jerry) Banks, Jennifer (Tom) Jaworske, Laurie (Dave) Blend, loving grandmother to 16 grandchildren Caitlin, Tony, Weston, Luke, Maura, Leah, Tommy, Jocelyn, Abby, Stephen, Nick, Jessica, Josh, Nathaniel, Tori and Alaina, and a loving great-grandmother to Asher, Brielle, and Isabella. Ellona is also survived by siblings Robert (Juanita) Mizikar, and David (Kathy) Mizikar. Family and friends will be received Thursday 2-8pm in the Jay A. Hoffer Funeral Home, Norvelt. Vigil prayers will be Thursday at 4pm in the funeral home with Reverend John A. Sedlak. A blessing service will be 10:30am in the funeral home Friday, followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Florian Catholic Church with Reverend William C. McGuirk as celebrant. She will be laid to rest in St. Florian Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Florian Catholic Church.
