Eugene M. "Sparky" Allison, 89, of Norvelt passed away Monday, September 15, 2014 at his home. Born February 21, 1925 in Derry, he was a son of the late Floyd and Margaret (Vogas) Allison. Sparky was an 80 year resident of Norvelt, who came with his parents at the age of 9 as an original homestead family. Prior to retirement, he had been employed by Adam Eidemiller for 34 years. In retirement, Sparky was a skilled woodworker and grew many wonderful gardens. He always said he could "fix anything but not a broken heart". In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Mildred M. Allison and a brother and his wife Floyd (Charlotte) Allison. He was the loving father to six children William (Ellen) Allison of Norvelt, Connie (Sam) Dean of Norvelt, Daniel (Anita) Allison of Wilmington, NC., Bonnie Allison and Joe Konopka of Kecksburg, David (Lisa) Allison of United, Skip Allison of Norvelt, loving grandfather to 14 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Also surviving are sisters Betty Christie, Dorothy (Joe) Zruno, Geraldine (George) Roadman and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday in the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, 2245 Mt. Pleasant Rd., Norvelt, 15674 where his funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday with Pastor David L. Greer officiating. Interment to follow in Middle Presbyterian Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant.
