Gaille Painter Hoffer, 89, of Norvelt, passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at her home. Born Jan. 5, 1928, in Youngwood, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Olive Myers Painter. She was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church. Gaille was also a member of the church choir, its handbell choir, a member of the Hilltop Quilters and, over the years, volunteered many hours. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jay A. Hoffer; brother, Wayne Painter; and sister, Sara Pavell. She is survived by her children, Jay (Candy) Hoffer, Hilary (Sue) Hoffer and Sandra Hoffer; grandchildren, Hilary Jr. (Melanie) Hoffer, Kimberly (Bob) Fanell, Molly (Sam) Scanlon, Thor (Crystal) Hoffer and Katie (Ryan) Tautkus-Berry; and great-grandchildren, Rob, Nate, Sarah, Emma, Ella, Bryar, Maddie and Raegan. Gaille is also survived by her brother, Bill (Mari Etta) Painter; sister-in-law, Sally Painter; and many nieces and nephews. Gaille is also survived by Autumn Lesniak and Jill Morris, who cared deeply and showed much devotion. Family and friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME. Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Pastor Mark A. Werner officiating. Please go directly to the church. Interment will follow in St. Paul Cemetery, Trauger. The Mt. Pleasant Township Lions will hold a prayer service for Gaille at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, May 7, 2017, in the funeral home, with the Rev. Lion David Greer officiating.
