George E. Trout, 74, of Greensburg (Humphreys) passed away at UPMC Shadyside Hospital Friday September 28, 2018. Born February 15, 1944 son of the late Paul and Maude Moore Trout. He was employed by Smeltz Oil Company in Greensburg before founding Hometown Fuel. He was a veteran of the US Navy aboard the USS Shangri-La, CVA-38, V-4 Fuel Division. George was an avid hunter and fisherman, loved to garden and spend time with his family. He was especially proud to teach his grandson how to grow a tomato. George was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and the Police Rod and Gun Club. He was a former midget football coach for the United Steelers, Pleasant Unity Mustangs and Unity Township Cowboys. He enjoyed swimming with his buddies at the Greensburg YMCA. George was a former member of St. Stanislaus Church, currently a member of St. Florian Catholic Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers Milton, Ken and Gene, brother in-law Joseph and his wife Margaret Pianko and sister in-law Catherine Pianko. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Virginia (Ginny) Pianko Trout, loving children Teresa and David Rath of Latrobe, George and Jessie Trout of Irwin, grandson Lincoln, brothers Jerry and Kim Trout, Roberta Hoffman, Aunt Sally Moore, brother and sister in-laws Mary Ann Pianko of Greensburg, Jerry and Ann Gumbita of Latrobe, and Thomas and Patty Pianko of Loyalhanna and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends will be received Tuesday 1-3 and 6-8pm in the Jay A. Hoffer Funeral Home, Norvelt. The rosary will be prayed in the funeral home Tuesday 5pm-5:30pm. Funeral mass will be Wednesday at a time to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Kidney Foundation of Central Pennsylvania KFCP. The family would also like to thank the nurses and health care professionals at UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Westmoreland Dialysis Center and his favorite doctor at Norvelt Family Practice.
