Geraldine "Jerry" (Dzambo) Mizikar, 90, of Norvelt, passed away Saturday, Sept. 24, 2022, at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. She was born April 8, 1932, in Hecla, to the late George and Mary (Kraisinger) Dzambo. She graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing and worked as a registered nurse for St. Francis Hospital. She was a member of St. Florian Catholic Church. Jerry was a volunteer at Overly's Country Christmas for over 20 years, as well as a leader in the Mountain View 4-H Club and Girl Scout Troop 257 for many years. Jerry also enjoyed square dancing with Harold's Western Squares. She was very proud to be one of the original Norvelt Homesteaders. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael "Mike" J. Mizikar Jr., in 2017; a son, Dr. Michael J. Mizikar III; and a sister, Mary Jane Dzambo. She is survived by four children, George Mizikar and his wife, Judith, of Greensburg, Danielle Lukon and her husband, John, of Derry, Stanley Mizikar and his wife, Sherry, of Norvelt, Alisa Mizikar and her husband, John Davenport, of London, Ohio, and daughter-in-law, Linda Mizikar of Nebraska. She was the grandmother of George Mizikar, Mary Ruzic (Matthew), Michael J. Mizikar IV (Rebecca), Monica Mizikar, Melanie Vorhies (Dalton), Amber Eaglehouse (Michael), John Michael Lukon (Brynne) and Elizabeth Mizikar (Seva Chinyaev); great-grandmother of Cayden, Benjamin, Emma, Jasen, Claire, Blake and Quinn, as well as many nieces and nephews and their families. Family and Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, 2245 Mt. Pleasant Road, Norvelt, where a vigil prayer service will be at 7:45 p.m. Transfer prayers will begin at 9:15 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home. A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. in St. Florian Catholic Church, with the Rev. John A. Sedlak, as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Florian Cemetery, Trauger.
