Helen F. Shaw, 86, of Acme, departed this life on Monday, December 1, 2014. Born January 28, 1928 in Acme, she was a daughter of the late William M. and Margaret (Welty) Freeman. She was a 1946 graduate of Hurst High School and served as secretary of the Hurst Alumni for several years. She was protestant by faith. Helen was a past active member of the Daughters of American Greensburg #9 for 53 years and later of the Francis Slocum Council #145 and had been a past State Councilor and National Deputy Councilor. She is a current member of the JR. OUAM #169 of Greensburg and was a past Councilor and District President. Helen was a member and a previous officer of Acme Community Center. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Harman W. Shaw in 1984, sisters Mary "Peg" Markle, Emma Ruth, and Mae Delligatti. Helen is survived by four children, Nina (Charles) Griffins of Acme, Harman (Cathy) Shaw of Clifton Park, NY, Diane Shaw of New Castle, DE, and Mark (Lynne) Shaw of Greensburg: five grandchildren, Denise(Scott)Hixson, Lonnie Zimmerman, Laura Kayhart, Heather and Erin Shaw; four great grandchildren Daniel Hixson, Holly and Alyssa Zimmerman and Emily Kayhart: two sisters Louise Keslar of Indian Head and Karen (Clair) Mowry of Acme; brother William (Theresa) Freeman of York Springs and a number of nieces and nephews.
