Helen M. (Urban) Spisak passed away peacefully August 14, 2014 in the Amber House, Mt. Pleasant. Born April 20, 1925in United, PA she was the daughter of the late George and Kathryn Yantko Urban. Helen was a member of St. Florian Catholic Church, United and a life-long member of the former Forty Martyrs Churce and its rosary society. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Martin Spisak in 1970, siblings Andrew, George, Stephen “Chip”, Mary Bossick, and Theresa Emerick. She was the loving mother of four children, Martin (Donalyn) Spisak of West Newton, Carol (Dennis) Mizikar of Mammoth, Patricia (Richard) Goulding of Springertown, and Barbara (Michael) Kohl of Greensburg and grandchildren Scott (Jennifer) and Shannon Spisak, Jamie (Russ) Weiland, Brian (Susan) and David Mizikar, Monica Taylor, Melanie (Hilary) Hoffer, Jacob Peffer, Richard Goulding, Jr and 12 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a sister, Margaret Homze of Forest Hills.
The family would like to thank the entire staff of the Amber house and Gran Hospice for their compassionate care and kindness. Friends and family will be received from 2-8 PM, Sunday, August 16 in the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, Norvelt. Transfer prayers will be at 9:10 AM, Monday August 17 in the Jay A. Hoffer Funeral Home with funeral mass at 10:00 AM at St. Florian Catholic Church with Reverend John A. Sedlak, celebrant. The former Forty Martyrs Rosary Society will pray on Sunday August 16. Interment to follow in Forty Martyrs Cemetery.
