Herbert T. Smith, 87, of Bradenton, Fla., formerly of Jeanette, died Thursday, July 3, 2014. He was born Jan. 14, 1927, in United, to Herbert C. and Margaret (Hails) Smith. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Russell and John "Jack" Smith. Herb was a graduate of Hurst High School, class of 1947, and the Eckels College of Mortuary Science. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in Okinawa, and a life member of the NRA. He was employed for thirty years at General Tire and Rubber in Jeanette, and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Bradenton, Fla. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Caroline (Ciocci) Smith; children, Nancy (Richard) Hundstad, David (Nancy) Smith and Connie (Martin) Kovacs; five grandchildren, Nicholas (Jennifer) Hundstad, Allison (Brian) Kirby, Katherine Smith, Carolyn (Patrick) Thomas and Andrew Smith; and one great-granddaughter, Natalie Kirby. There will be no public viewing. Cremated remains will be scattered at his beloved camp in Potter County.
