Irene Bishop Sosko

Irene Bishop Sosko, 90 of Mutual, died Sunday July 31, 2016. She was born October 6, 1925, the daughter of Stephen and Anna Lawrence Bishop. Irene was a member of St. Florian Catholic Church, United and a member of First Catholic Slovak Ladies Union, branch #277. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael J. Sosko; sisters Margaret Bishop, Betty Sofranko, and Marie Pravlik. She is survived by her children, Irene (Ernest) Miscik of Acme, Michael Sosko, Jr and Bernard Sosko of Mutual, and Stephen “Pishta” (Susan Hontz) Sosko of Mutual; grandchildren Nicholas Sosko, Cynthia Miscik, Michael Sosko III, Jason Sosko, Ernest Miscik, Jr., Scott Sosko and Christine Sosko; several great grandchildren; sister Dorothy (Frank) Boldy; and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm, with a vigil service at 7:45 with Reverend John A. Sedlak, Wednesday, in the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, 2245 Mt. Pleasant Rd, Norvelt, PA 15666. Her funeral service will begin at 9:10 am, Thursday, with transfer prayers in the funeral home and funeral mass at 10:00 am in St. Florian Catholic Church, Rev. Sedlak, Celebrant. Interment to follow in St. Florian Cemetery.
