James F. Cheek, 63 of Mt. Pleasant Township passed away unexpectedly on February 25, 2016. He was born June 20, 1952 in Mt. Pleasant. He was the beloved husband of Audrey Cheek and the beloved father of Allison and Megan Cheek. Jim is also survived by his mother, Dolores Siko; sister Rosellen (John) Eutsey; and brothers Ed (Diane) Cheek and John (Patty) Cheek. Additionally, he is survived by sisters-in-law Francie (Dave) Gyurke, Judy (Noah) Coblentz, and Carol (Greg) Marsh, and his special Aunt Ginny and Labrador Maggie along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Frank Cheek and his stepfather Bruno Siko.
Jim was retired from CSX Transportation where he worked as a railroad engineer for 37 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of the VFW Post 3368 where he was Post Quartermaster and of the American Legion Post 446. Other clubs he belonged to were the Polish Falcons, Kecksburg Firemen’s Social Club, and the Slovak Club. He loved spending time with his family, especially travelling with them around the world.
There will be a memorial service 5 pm Sunday February 28 in St. Pius church, Mt. Pleasant with the VFW and the American Legion in attendance. As per Jim’s wishes, there will be no viewing. Arrangements are in the care of Jay A. Hoffer Funeral Home. LOVE LASTS FOREVER!
