James E. McFarland, 76, of Mammoth, PA went to be with the Lord Saturday September 14, 2024.
Jim was a proud U.S. Marine, serving two tours of duty as a radioman in Vietnam. Jim enjoyed his retirement following his tenure at Verizon as a lineman.
Jim was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hiking, fishing, hunting and most of all white-water rafting and kayaking. “Old man River” as he was affectionately called, ran countless trips along the Youghiogheny amongst many other tributaries. His love and respect for the river has inspired many individuals throughout the years of his boating career. Above all, Jim loved God and his family.
Preceded by his Mother, Mildred McFarland, and brother, Gordon (Keith) McFarland, Jim is kept in loving memory by his best friend and wife of 42 years; Peggy, daughter, Leah (Ron) Ermlick, granddaughter, Magnolia Ermlick, brother, David (Cornelia) McFarland, sister-in-law, Alison McFarland, mother-in-Law, Anita Barnes, brother-in-law, David (Leslie) Barnes, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on TUESDAY from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the HOFFER WILT FUNERAL HOME, 2245 Mount Pleasant Rd., Norvelt, where Funeral Services will be conducted, by Rev. David L. Greer, on WEDNESDAY at 11:30am. Full military honors will be conducted by the Armbrust Veterans Association following the service in the funeral home.
