Janice Lee Newingham, 80, of Youngwood, passed away on July 20, 2024 at Brookdale Senior Living. She was born on October 14, 1943, a daughter of the late James and Marjorie (Albert) Newingham.
Janice dedicated over 35 years of her life working as a secretary for various trucking companies, where she was known for her diligence and commitment. Beyond her professional life, she had a profound love for reading and spent many hours volunteering at the Youngwood library. Her passion for genealogy led her to uncover and preserve family histories, a testament to her dedication to her roots. Janice was also an active participant in numerous community events around Youngwood, often lending a helping hand with the Lions. Her commitment to her community extended to her role as a former board member of the Byerly Freeman Cemetery and as a trustee of the Acme Methodist Church, where her efforts significantly contributed to the growth of the church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, James and Glenn Newingham; and her sister, Sharon Newingham.
Janice leaves behind her loving sister, Helen Sprung, and her brother, Jack Newingham, along with his wife, Janet, 2 nieces, 2 nephews, 3 great-nieces and 3 great-nephews.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the HOFFER WILT FUNERAL HOME (formerly Jay A. Hoffer Funeral Home), Norvelt, PA. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11am in the Acme Methodist Church, 3016 PA Route 31, Acme. Burial to follow in the Byerly Freeman Cemetery.
