Joann J. Shaffer,79, of Mt. Pleasant township went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday September 22, 2017. She was born June 2, 1938, in Acme PA, daughter of the late Eberhart and Elizabeth Terhorst. Joann was a graduate of Zion Bible College in Providence Rhode Island where she graduated at the top of her class. She was a devout Christian, teaching adult Sunday School for many years. Her and husband Stewart were active volunteers in home mission work for over fifteen years, travelling to various churches and centers across the United States. She was a member of First Assembly of God in Mt. Pleasant. In addition to her parents, Joann was preceded in death by her son, Gary Michael Shaffer; brothers Clarence Terhorst and William (bill) Terhorst; Sisters-in-law Delores Terhorst and Claudia Terhorst; brothers-in-law Norman Shaffer and wife Lucy Ann and Wayne Shaffer Sr. and wife Pearle; sister-in-law Shirley Howard and husband Ray; Father and Mother-in-law Fairmont and Daisy Shaffer. Joann is survived by her husband of 58 years, Stewart Lee Shaffer; two sons Jeffrey and wife Brenda of Penn Hills and Brian and wife Paula of Acme; One daughter Lori Schrock of Scottdale. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Kyle Shaffer (Kristin), Lauren Shaffer and fiancé Jonathan Wilkins. David Schrock, Jessica Shaffer, Jonathan Shaffer, Lindsay Shaffer, Aaron Trout and Jade Shaffer; Sister Nellie (frank) Patula of acme, Brothers of Schererville Indiana Louis (Donna) Terhorst, Jack Terhorst and friend Shirley Dillon of Acme, Jerry Terhorst and friend Joyce Pochet of Greensburg, Sister-in-law Edna Terhorst of Acme and many nieces and nephews.  Family and friends will be received 2-4 and 6-8 Pm Sunday in the Jay A.Hoffer Funeral Home, Norvelt, 15674.  Her service will be Monday 10:00 Am in the funeral home;  Joann will be laid to rest following in the Fairview Cemetery,  Kecksburg .
