Joanne H. Krynicky, 76, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Monday, Mar. 27, 2023, at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital. She was born Oct. 19, 1946, in Mt. Pleasant, to the late John and Helen (Muchoney) Krynicky. Prior to retirement, she worked for Mt. Pleasant Area School District where she served an elementry school teacher, the Reading Supervisor for the district; and she also served as interim principal of both Ramsay and Donegal Elementry Schools and was a reading instructor at Westmoreland County Community College. She was a member of St.Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Trauger, where she was a religious instructor and prepared children for sacraments. She gladly served on several of the church’s committees over the years and was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America where she held the position of secretary and later served as vice-regent. Joanne is survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Apr. 1, 2023, and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday Apr. 2, 2023, in the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, Norvelt. Joanne’s Funeral Liturgy will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday in St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church with the Rev. Paul-Alexander Shutt O.S.B. as celebrant. Interment to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Trauger. The Catholic Daughters of America will pray the rosary at 3 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Parastas will begin at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Apr. 2, 2023, in the funeral home. The Panachida will begin at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Apr. 3, 2023, in the funeral home.
