John Joseph "Jo Jo" Swiderski, who went by “Joe” for the majority of his life, passed away on March 29, 2025, at IHS Frick Hospital. He was 80 years old.
Born on October 8, 1944, John was a man of many passions and talents. Prior to his retirement, “Bushy,” as his coworkers referred to him, dedicated his career to the construction industry, where his hard work and commitment were evident in every project he touched.
Joe was a man who cherished life's simple pleasures. He had a deep love for fitness, classic rock, and cars, particularly his prized '71 Corvette Stingray. A big Chevy enthusiast, he enjoyed working outdoors, tending to his yard, and watching NHRA races on television. In his younger years, he even took to the boxing ring. Above all, he loved his children deeply and took immense pride in their accomplishments.
A proud veteran, Joe served his country with honor in the United States Marine Corps from 1964 until 1967, attaining the rank of Lance Corporal. His sense of duty and patriotism were qualities that defined much of his character.
Joe is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Joseph and Anna (Krynitsky) Swiderski. He is survived by his cherished children, Joey and Tiffany Swiderski. He also leaves behind his loving siblings, Lolly (Frank) Pierson, Dorothy (Wayne) Hill, and Raymond Swiderski. Joe's memory will be carried on by his nieces and nephews: Laura (Jack) Kelley, Dave Lahti, Ray (Khriste) Swiderski, and Rick (Ramie) Swiderski, as well as his great-nieces and nephews, who will all miss him dearly.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday, April 1, from 6-8 pm at Hoffer Wilt Funeral Home in Norvelt, PA. A Blessing Service, officiated by Fr. John Sedlak, will be held on Wednesday, April 2, at 10 am at the same location. Joe will be laid to rest with military honors, accorded by the Armbrust Veterans Association, at St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
Joe Swiderski's legacy is one of love, dedication, and resilience. His spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
