John G. Kitz, 78 of Mt. Pleasant Township, passed away December 27, 2021. Born in McKeesport, PA to John A. and Helen (Bongyor) Kitz, he set down his roots on Moccasin Hollow Road back in 1966. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers; Albert and Joseph Kitz. John is survived by his wife of 57 years Christine A. (Gabonay) Kitz, sister; Kay (Joel) Shaw, brother; George (Catherine) Kitz, daughter; Dr. Danielle Kitz, son; John D. ( Kelly) and four grandsons: Johnathan, Josh (Trista), Jeremiah, and Jake; great-granddaughter Colbie (Josh and Trista).He was a veteran – in the Army and the Army Reserves during the 1960s. John loved farming, hunting, and was an astute businessman. His business, “Better-Built” Wood Products, which he ran with his son John D., was not only his livelihood for over 43 years; it was also a hobby, a passion, and along with his family- his legacy. Family and friends will be received in the Jay A. Hoffer Funeral Home, Norvelt from 8:30-10:30 A.M, Friday December 31st, followed by his funeral mass at 11 A.M in St. Florian Church with Rev John A. Sedlak Celebrant. Internment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Kecksburg with Military rights accorded by the Armbrust Veterans Association.
