John "Herb" Walton III, 82, of Norvelt, passed away peacefully Monday, Jan. 7, 2019. Born Aug. 11, 1936, he was the son of the late John Herbert Jr, and Dorothy King Walton. Prior to retirement, he worked as a body shop manager at Star Chevrolet. Herb was a member of St. Florian Catholic Church, United, and a life member of Hecla Sportsmans Club. He was an avid Viking football and wrestling fan. He was the last remaining member of his family. In addition to his parents, Herb was preceded in death by wife, Joann "Josy" Walton. He was a loving father to their three children, John Robert Walton (Debra) and Joseph Edward Walton (Donna), both of Mt. Pleasant, and Lori Walton Ritting, of Red Hill, Pa. Herb is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Dr. Jeremy Walton, of West Virginia, Joshua Walton, Jessica Walton, Joseph Walton Jr. and Jennifer Walton, all of Mt. Pleasant, and Allison Ritting and Megan Ritting, of Red Hill Pa. In addition, he is survived by nieces and nephews; and numerous friends. Family and friends will be received from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, Norvelt. The CDA and Rosary Altar Society of St. Florian will pray the rosary at 3:15 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Vigil prayers will be held at 7:45 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. His funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Florian Catholic Church with the Rev. John A. Sedlak celebrating, with transfer prayers at 10:15 a.m. in the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at St. Florian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to American Diabetes Association by mail, P.O.
