Joseph Patrick Lesko,86,of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Monday, October 10,2022, at home. He was born March 11,1936,in Latrobe to Micheal and Agnes Lesko.He served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force.He was a graduate of St. Vincent College, and received his Master’s degree from University of Pittsburgh.He worked as a high school English teacher at Hurst Jr. High School and then Mt. Pleasant Area High School,where served as a department head.Joe developed and taught an honors english program for his students to better prepare them for college level work. He was a member of St. Florian Parish where he served as a lector, altar server,communion assistant and he also taught Christian education classes.He wrote a weekly article for the church bulletin about the scripture readings of the week.He was also a member of the Jednota.In addition to his parents Joe was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Lesko Jr. and four sisters and their husbands, Agnes(James)Drexler, Dorothy (Francis)Solak,Veronica (Richard)Miller,and Bernardine(William) Shopsky.He is survived by a niece Cleta J. Tyson;eight nephews,Christopher Miller, David Solak,Marty Drexler,Richard Miller Jr.,Bruce Shopsky,Brian Shopsky,Larry Lesko,and Jerry Lesko.Family and Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, October 21,2022 in the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, 2245 Mt. Pleasant Road, Norvelt,where a vigil prayer service will be at 7:45 p.m.Transfer prayers will begin at 10:15 a.m. Saturday, October 22, 2022,in the funeral home.Joe's funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. in St. Florian Catholic Church, with the Rev.John A.
