Joseph J. Yuhas, Jr., 87, of Norvelt D Section, passed away Tuesday, Feb.
15, 2022, at home. He was born July 19, 1934, in Center, PA to the late
Joseph J. Yuhas Sr. and Mary (Kozusko) Yuhas. He was a graduate of
Hurst High School. Prior to retirement he was employed by Wabtec
Rubber Products. He served his country as a member of the United
States Army. He was a member of St. Florian Church, United, where he
was very active in fundraising with the church festival. Joe was past
President of Calumet Volunteer Fire Department; and past President of
Westmoreland County Fireman's Association; he was a member of the
Lion's Club where he was a Melvin Jones Award recipient, and he helped
with the Lion's pancake breakfast at the yearly Westmoreland Fair; and
the Mt. Pleasant Municipal Authority. He was also a member of the
Mohawks and the United Club. Joe loved all football especially trips to
Notre Dame, watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and Mt. Pleasant Vikings.
He also enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Pirates. In addition to his
parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years (Sept. 10, 1960)
Mary Ann (Kalp) Yuhas on Jan. 2, 2022; and a sister Mary Joyce Fresch.
He is survived by a daughter Joy Smith and her husband James Smith Sr.;
a grandson James Smith Jr.; a brother Andrew Richard Yuhas; nephews
Andy and Mike Yuhas. Family and friends will be received Thusday, Feb.
17, 2022, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the Jay A. Hoffer Funeral Home,
2245 Mt. Pleasant Road, Norvelt, PA 15674. Transfer prayers will take
place on Friday, Feb. 18, 2022, at 9:15 AM in the funeral home followed
by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Florian Church, United with the Rev.
John A. Sedlak as celebrant. Internment to follow at St. Florian
Cemetery, Trauger. The Lions Club will conduct a service at 6 PM
Thursday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his
