Kathleen L. (Schachte) Snitzer, 60, of Acme, succumbed to her long and courageous battle with cancer on Dec. 31, 2014. Born June 6, 1954 in Mt. Pleasant, she was a daughter of Carl Schachte of Southwest, and his late wife, Virginia (Nemeth) Schachte. Kathleen was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School, class of 1972. She was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Church, Trauger, where she was a past member of the Rosary Club. Kathy was employed by Beginnings and Beyond in Norvelt and loved her job as infant care specialist. Kathleen was a Steeler fan, and loved flea markets. She most enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. In addition to her mother, Virginia, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Landon Throm, and her mother and father in law, Rose and Carl Snitzer. She will greatly be missed by her family, her father Carl, loving husband James "Jim" Snitzer, Children, Jennifer (Michael) Dinatti, Matthew (Jamie) Crise, Andrew Crise and fiancée Carly Keyser, Autumn (Josh) Waller; step-son James Snitzer; grandchildren Austin, Austin James, Mischa, Brystoll, Jaquelyn, and Gannon; Siblings Susan (Dennis) Hilty, Timothy (Sandra) Schachte, Carla (Wilbur) Bussard; numerous nieces and nephews, and her best little friend, Sarah. Friends and family will be received 12:30 – 6 P.M. Sunday at the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME 2245 MT. PLEASANT RD. NORVELT, 15674. Kathleen's Divine Liturgy will be 10 AM Monday, at St. Mary's Byzantine Church, Trauger, with Rev. Paul Alexander Schutt, O.S.B. Interment to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Trauger. Panachida service will be 9 AM Monday in the funeral home. A Parastas service will be 4 PM Sunday in the funeral home. The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at the Arnold Palmer Pavilion, Latrobe Hospital Oncology Department, and Excela Hospice for their exceptional and compassionate care.
