~~Leonard J Lucotch Sr, 85 of United, passed away Sunday, May 21, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great‐grandfather and will be greatly missed by all in his immediate and extended family. He was born March 24, 1932 in Trauger, son of the late Michael and Elizabeth (Secosky) Lucotch. He was a decorated veteran of the Korean War and served from 1950 – 1953. He retired from Latrobe Steel after 36 years of loyal service where he was a Sr. Technician in the Metallurgy Lab. He was a member of United Slovak Club, Hecla Sportsmen’s Club, United Amvets Post 94, American Legion Post #446, Society of Photo Technologists and St. Florian Parish. He was also a former long‐time member of Forty Martyrs church where he was regularly part of the church council, Buscu committee and was a groundskeeper and custodian. An accomplished musician of nearly 70 years, he was a member of various local polka and wedding bands and loved any and all music. He was also an avid golfer and loved playing with family and friends all over the east coast. In life & retirement, his hobbies included photography, traveling, hunting & fishing, model aircraft building, fishing, bingo with friends at the Polish Falcons and telling / re‐telling family, travel, and golf stories. He was proceeded in death by his son Terry, brother Raymond and sister Mary Burik. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Rita; children Lenny of Phoenix AZ, Pam Caruso of Cordova TN, Patty (Doug) Orbin of Mt Pleasant PA, Brian (Kim) of Ivyland PA and Mary Beth (Andy) Yuhas of Norvelt PA as well as grandchildren Jason, Kyle, Matt, Wesley, Celina, Taylor, Corrinn, Brenna, Kendyl and Ava, and great‐granddaughter Isabelle. He is also survived by his brother Mike and numerous sisters‐in‐law, brothers‐in‐law, nieces and nephews. Len’s family would like to express a special thanks to the staff at RNC and nurses and aides of Excela Health: Home Care & Hospice for their compassionate care. Family and Friends will be received Tuesday 2-4 and 6-9pm in the Jay A. Hoffer Funeral Home, Norvelt. The vigil service will begin 8:30pm in the funeral home. His funeral mass will be celebrated at 10am at St. Florian Church Wednesday with Reverend John A. Sedlak as celebrant. Transfer prayers will begin at 9:15am in the funeral home.
