The world is a little emptier now. Linda Ann Ponko, 70, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Sunday, September 24, 2023, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. She was born December 3, 1952, in Latrobe, to the late Edmund and Dolores (Poole) Ponko. Following graduation from Seton Hill University, Linda began a career as a teacher. She retired to raise her children. She was many things to many people but her favorite role by far was “Nanny”. She loved her five grandchildren to no end. Linda was passionate about education, creating art, Elvis Presley, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandmother, Katherine Poole and a brother, Richard "Bones" Ponko. Linda is survived by three children; Joshua Finfrock, Neil Patrick Finfrock (Krystal) and Casey Finfrock; five grandchildren, Jacob Geyer, Eli Finfrock, Sophia Finfrock, Mia Trice, Jaxon Layne Finfrock; four siblings, Edmund Ponko (Jeanne), William Ponko (Debbie), Pat Ponko (Lisa), Karin (Dave) Yesho; a sister-in-law, Kate Ponko; an aunt, Billie Ferlin (Don); as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins who she also adored. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 3-7 p.m. at Roosevelt Hall, 2325 Mt Pleasant Rd, Mt Pleasant, PA 15666. All are welcome. Jay A. Hoffer Funeral Home, 2245 Mt.
