Lyn Tylman

May 2, 1950 — February 22, 2024

Acme

Heaven gained another angel on the evening of Thursday, Feb. 22, 2024. Hand in hand with her loving husband of 52 years, Lyn passed peacefully and was welcomed into the arms of her mother and father as she crossed through heaven's gates.

She was as beautiful inside as out, with a heart of gold. Known for NEVER "sugar coating anything" and a personality bigger than her five foot stature, she kept everyone in line and on their toes at all times.

Her "tough as nails" exterior and unwavering strength made her the rock of her family. She may not have been a hugger, but there was NEVER a doubt about her love for everyone in her life. In typical fashion, her selflessness carried through her final days as she handed out a lengthy "honey-do" list to ensure everyone around her was taken care of.

While she would never admit it, she was a lover of people. She could talk to a busy signal and never met a stranger. The worst and best thing you could do is say "hello," as it would lead to a three hour conversation you didn't want yet somehow needed.

When she wasn't busy chatting on the phone multiple times a day with her first born, you could find her playing slot games on her laptop or sitting at the penny slots of a local casino. Let's see how long her husband can keep that 2220 day streak going with her online slots or if he's going to screw it up.

Her family was blessed by the culinary skills she inherited from her Mumma. Lyn could cook anything, and boy was her food delicious. No matter how hard her children try, they will never be able to pull together a meal the way she could. It just never tastes the same.

During the winter months, her time was spent snow birding on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. It wasn't unusual at any given point to hear her tell her husband she was loading up the animals and heading to the condo alone because he was being a "pain in the ass."

In addition to her family, animals made her world complete. Always sandwiched on the couch between her dog, Daisy Mae, and cat, Maggie Mae, they kept her full of stories about their antics, which she loved to tell to her kids and grandkids during one of her three hour conversations.

There are no words to express the sadness her loved ones feel with her passing. She will be deeply missed by all those who love her, but a smile will come to them all when her voice in their minds says "knock it off" the moment tears start flowing.

Lyn was preceded in death by her mother, Blondina Addessi Johnson; father, Art Johnson; and brother, Richard (Oris) Sambuchino.

She is survived by her loving husband, Lou Tylman, of Acme; son, Michael (Kristi) Tylman, of Magnolia, Del.; daughter, Jessica Tylman (Michael) Heidorn, of Lansdale, Pa.; sister, Dolores Sambuchino, of Greensburg; grandchildren, Tyler, Kayden (Amya), Gavin, Ashlyn, Landon and Lily; as well as countless extended family members.

There will be a gathering of family and friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at HOFFER WILT FUNERAL HOME (formerly Jay A. Hoffer Funeral Home), Norvelt, and the family requests casual attire for those attending. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Action for Animals (Route 217, Latrobe, PA).
