Mary Louise (Crum) Nemeth, 90, of Southwest, PA passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2023. Every day she read the obituaries and joked that if she wasn’t in them, she could go on with her day. She was born in Uniontown, PA on February 19, 1933, to Madge and Sylvester Crum. She and her sister, Alice Fay and her brother, Jack, moved to Hecla at a young age. She met her husband in high school and upon his return from serving in Korea, they married and had a 63-year adventure raising 5 children. They lived on “Pine Lane,” a dead-end road where you would find her house, her parent’s house, and her sister’s house. This was perfect because being surrounded by family was the most important thing in her life. When her children were younger, times were often tough, but this never prevented her from making a beautiful home and cooking incredible meals. She was very strong-willed and often had to be the family disciplinarian. Because of this, her children grew up to be her pride and joy. She enjoyed family picnics, dancing to rock music, and later in life, she became a voracious reader. Her final years were spent in the Westmoreland Manor, a place where she knew everybody’s name and appreciated the great care that she was given. She felt loved by her family and by the staff at the Manor. She will be missed by all. Preceding her in death was her husband Edward (2015) and her daughter Kathleen Shulock (2010). She is survived by her sons, David Michael (MaryBeth) Nemeth, of Plum, and Edward Michael (Leslie) Nemeth, of Ligonier; daughters, Patricia (David) Polcha, of Somerset, and Mary Beth (Jim) Crosby, of Hecla; son-in-law, Dennis Shulock; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 18, in the Community Church of Hecla. There will be a memorial service and reception to follow. Arrangements by JAY A.
