Mazie Alice Weiss, 85, of Mt. Pleasant, left Westmoreland Manor on Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2021, to go to the home prepared in Father's House. Born Aug. 24, 1936, to the late Hugh and Evalena (Terry) Greer, she went home exactly one week after her 85th birthday. She was preceded in death by her beloved Arthur Lee Weiss. Together they parented many foster children, raising three until they were grown. Mazie is survived by her sister, Joyce Ann Stoner, of Scottsdale; nephews, Terry L. Asif, Ph.D., William Weiss, Pastor David Greer and Roger G. Stoner; and nieces, Vanessa Bish, Eunice Stauffer, Cindi Hixenbaugh, Patricia Brannaka and Aimee Mitts. She faithfully attended Church of God of Holiness and later Norvelt Union Church. Mazie was a woman of prayer and bearing a life of faith, love, generosity and gentleness that is very rarely seen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Frances T. Osif, Ervin L. Greer and Ruby Weiss; and a dear brother-in-law, Charley Weiss. Family and friends will be received from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Sept. 3, in the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, Norvelt. Her funeral service will be at noon Friday in the Jay A. Hoffer Funeral Home, with Pastor David L. Greer Officiating. Interment will follow at Westmoreland Memorial Park, Greensburg, where she will lay next to her late husband. Much appreciation goes to all the caregivers of Westmoreland Manor, where she received the finest care surrounded with their gentle love; many have done well, but they exceeded them all. Also a thank-you to Bridges Hospice who bridged her path from anxiety and pain to calm and comfort, Maura, who desperately tried to make her final birthday special, Marian, RN, who kept the family well-informed, and the aide, Lisa. Thank you to the chaplain, Pastor Don and Pastor Steve, who sang hymns over her along with prayers. The family requests no flowers
