Michael J. Rusinko Sr., 66, of Norvelt, passed away Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019. Born May 26, 1952, in Mt. Pleasant, he was the son of the late George and Agnes Novak Rusinko. Prior to retirement, he worked 35 years for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation as a foreman. He was a proud veteran of the Army. Mike was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant Area High School in 1970. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, George S. Rusinko. He is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley, of 44 years. Mike was the loving father to his two children, Lisa Rusinko Dunkley and husband, Justin, of Morgantown, W.V, and Michael Rusinko Jr., of Norvelt; and loving grandfather to Garrett Michael Dunkley. In addition, he is survived by siblings, Aimee Rusinko Kakos and husband, Michael and David Rusinko; and nieces and nephews, Matthew Rusinko and wife, Marisa, of McMurray, Pa., and Courtney Rusinko and fiance, Matthew Laposky. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday in the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, Norvelt. A parastas service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. A funeral liturgy will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. John's Byzantine Catholic Church, Scottdale with the Rev. Oleh Seremchuk as celebrant. He will be laid to rest in St. John's Byzantine Cemetery.
