Patricia M. Bitner of Whitney, formerly of Mammoth, died peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving children on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at the age of 82. She was born March 17, 1933 in Buffington, PA to the late Thomas W. and Rose Olexa Malia. Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Paul J. Bitner, on January 17, 2008. She was a member of St. Florian Catholic Church, United where she belonged to the altar society and was a former member of the church choir. Patricia cherished spending time with her family, of which she was a loving mother and grandmother. She was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and enjoyed an occasional trip to the casinos. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by brothers Thomas, Joseph, Richard, Robert, and Francis Malia, and grandson John Patrick Bitner. She is survived by sons Paul R. (Mary) of Kecksburg, John W. (Christine) of Mt. Pleasant, Thomas of Whitney; a daughter Ann M. (Robert) Myers of Greensburg and grandchildren Emily, Christopher (Regina), Nicholas, Rose, Benjamin, Jacob, Peggy, and Lily, her brother Paul (Edna) Malia of Parma Ohio, sister-in-law Lorraine Kemp and several nieces and nephews. Family and Friends will be received 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Friday, August 21 in the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME 2245 Mt. Pleasant Road, Norvelt PA 15674. Transfer prayers will be Saturday, August 22 at 9:15 AM at JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME followed by her funeral mass at 10 AM at St. Florian Church with Reverend John A. Sedlak, Celebrant. Interment to follow in St. Florian Cemetery Trauger. St. Florian Altar Society will pray the rosary at 3 PM and a vigil will be at 7:45 PM Friday at the funeral home.
