Raymond A. Golkosky Jr., 80, of Norvelt, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, March 15, 2018, at his home. Born Jan. 7, 1938, in United, he was the son of the late Raymond A. and Victoria (Mientus) Golkosky. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his loving wife, Lucy (Suchocki) Golkosky, Aug. 2, 1984. He is survived by two sons, Gregory Golkosky and his significant other, Sue Snyder, of Norvelt, and Kevin and wife, Kristy, of Acme; brother, Richard Golkosky and wife, Joy, of Norvelt; niece, Kathy Dively; and husband, Doug, of Alexandria, Va.; nephews, Richard Golkosky Jr. and wife, Jennifer, of Nokesville, Va., and Michael Golkosky and wife, Johanna, of Acme; grandchildren, Katie Golkosky, of Scottdale, and Adam and Amanda Golkosky, of Acme; and two stepgrandchildren, Dayton and Dylan. Raymond graduated from Hurst High School in the class of 1956. After graduation, Raymond was a Gunner's mate third classmen while serving in the Navy. Early in life, Raymond was employed by Greensburg Beverage, later a prison guard for the State Regional Corrections Facility of Greensburg, from where he retired. He is fondly remembered for his passions in life that were hunting, fishing and his love for John Deere. He was a lifetime member of the NRA. He will be missed dearly by his lifelong friend, Andy (PeepCee) Klajka. Family and friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, March 19, 2018, in the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, at which time the service will begin, with Father John A. Sedlak officiating. Inurnment will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Calumet.
