Richard A. Barchesky, age 70, of Acme, passed away on February 4, 2024, at Independence Health System Frick Hospital. He was born on July 5, 1953. Richard worked for over 40 years as an insurance adjuster for State Farm, dedicating his career to helping others during difficult times.
Outside of work, Richard found joy in spending time with his beloved grandchildren. Playing with them brought him immense happiness and created cherished memories that will be treasured forever.
Richard was born and raised a devoted catholic and actively participated in various community organizations including the Calumet Community Club, Hecla Sportsmen’s Club, and Slovak American Beneficial & Sportsmen’s Club.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Helen (Shick) Barchesky, a daughter, Carrie Ann Barchesky, and brother, Terry Barchesky.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 15 years, Helen Klejka, and his children: Joe Barchesky, Andy (Amanda) Barchesky, both of Derry, Michael P. Uhrin of Mt. Pleasant, and Melissa (James) Rowlett of Maryland. Richard was a proud grandfather to Alinah, Starla, and Maison Rowlett. He is also survived by his brother, Edward (Diane) Barchesky of Derry, sister Linda Barchesky of Charleston, WV, sisters-in-law Mary Ann (Len) Monticue, Pauline (Chuck) Murray, Monica (Stan) Puskar, Bernadine (Randy) Obusek all of Mt. Pleasant, brothers-in-law Andrew Klejka of Mt. Pleasant, Anthony Klejka of Somerset, Tom Klejka of Derry, John (Sharon) Klejka, and Paul Klejka both of Mt. Pleasant. Richard's loyal companion, his dog Dutchess, will miss him dearly.
Richard was a graduate of Derry High School, class of 1971. He had a passion for restoring and collecting cars, finding joy in breathing new life into these timeless machines. He will be remembered for his dedication to his work, his love for his family, and his active involvement in the community.
Family will receive friends on THURSDAY from 2-4 and 6-8pm at HOFFER WILT FUNERAL HOME (formerly Jay A. Hoffer Funeral Home), where transfer prayer will be offered on FRIDAY at 9:30am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Florian Church. Interment to follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
