Richard A. Magyar, 64, of Hempfield Township, formerly of United, passed away peacefully at his home Wednesday evening, Dec. 27, 2017, with his family by his side. He was born June 24, 1953, in Mt. Pleasant, a son of the late John E. Magyar and Betty A. (Fullem) Magyar. He was a member of St. Florian Parish and a former member of Forty Martyrs Church. Prior to his recent retirement, he was employed by Reinhart Food Service for 43 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his loving family, wife Rachel (Sobota) Magyar, of 43 years; son, Jason Magyar and his wife, Erica, of Windham, Maine; son, Daniel Magyar and his wife, Jessica, of Ocoee, Fla.; four grandchildren, Mikayla, Preston, Easton and Ezra, and a fifth grandchild on the way; brother, John Magyar and his wife, Susan, of Severn, Md.; sister, Nancy Palko and her husband, Robert, of Latrobe; dear cousin, Kathy Czech, of United; and several nieces and nephews and their families. Family and friends will be received at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, at St. Florian Catholic Parish in United, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Forty Martyrs Cemetery. Arrangements are under direction of JAY A HOFFER FUNERAL HOME in Norvelt. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent Archabbey for the health and welfare of the Benedictine community in memory of Richard.
