Richard "Dick" H. Zimmerman, 93, of Greensburg, passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at home. He was born November 3, 1929, in Greensburg, to the late Edward and Edna (Huffman) Zimmerman. He was a life member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Trauger, where he served on the Church Council, as a Sunday School Teacher, Superintendent of the Sunday School, and as a Stephen Minister. He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy during the Korean war. Dick was a charter member of Dry Ridge Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as Secretary/Treasurer for 20 years, and the department Chaplin. He delivered for Meals on Wheels for 20 years and he also enjoyed bowling, gardening, and golfing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Dean in 2021; four siblings, Edward (Virginia), George (Josephine), Glenn (Libby) Zimmerman, and Ruth (Eugene) Brinker. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Nancy (Baker) Zimmerman; three children, Leslie (Riad) Safadi, Mark (Lisa) Zimmerman, Carrie Martz; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Family and Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, August 13, 2023, in the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, 2245 Mt. Pleasant Road, Norvelt, PA 15674. The Dry Ridge Volunteer Fire Department Station 91 will hold their service at 6:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Dick’s funeral service will be Monday, August 14, 2023, at 10 a.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church with Pastor Samuel Scheiderer officiating.
