Robert H. Ferguson, 89, of Chambersburg, formerly of Washington, D.C. and Shippensburg, passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2014. Born March 15, 1925, he was the son of the late Ephriam and Caroline (Moore) Ferguson. Robert was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church of Carlisle. Bob was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Marines. Prior to retirement, Bob was employed for 35 years by the U.S. Government as an educator and administrator, having been in Germany and Hawaii. He had been a member and past master of the Benjamin Franklin Masonic Lodge of Indiana, and also a member of Coudersport Consistory. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor (Cunningham) Ferguson in 2013, and a sister, Jean M. Myers. Bob is survived by his nieces, Penelope (Robert) Myers Ocker, Judith Ann (Jeffrey) Myers Stouffer, and Lois Jane (C. David) Myers Taylor. Visitation will be held for friends and family on Saturday, August 9, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, 2245 Mount Pleasant Road, Norvelt 15674, where his funeral service will be held at 1:15 p.m., with Rev. Jack L. Larson officiating. Interment to follow at Hillview Cemetery, Greensburg, where military honors will be accorded by Mount Pleasant American Legion Post 446, who will also meet at the funeral home for their service at 1:00 p.m. The Indiana Franklin Lodge #313 will bestow Masonic Rites following the Military service at 1:05 p.m.
