Robert C. Lape, Sr., 85 of Mt. Pleasant, formerly of Norvelt, passed away Saturday, November 1, 2014. Born January 3, 1929 in Baggley, he was son of the late Russell Sr. and Edna (Menzi) Lape. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Amelia "Millie" (Pauvlik) Lape in 2008, a daughter Lee Ann Lape in 2010, brothers Russell Jr. and Dean Lape. He is survived by two sons Joseph M. (Jennifer) Lape of Mt. Pleasant, Robert C. Jr. (Renee) Lape of West Union, Iowa; three grandchildren Dalton, Ethan and Kennedy. Also surviving is a sister Lois (Roy) Dunlap and a brother Donald (Edie) Lape and nieces and nephews. Prior to retirement, Bob had been employed by Brown Boveri. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the Army and Air Force. His favorite past time was sitting outside but most recently sitting "by the road" at his apartment. Bob enjoyed making wooden bird whirligigs. Family and friends will be received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, 2245 Mt. Pleasant Rd., Norvelt, 15674 where his funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday with Rev. Dr. Dale L. Porterfield officiating. Interment to follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Greensburg with military honors accorded by the American Legion Post 446 of Mt. Pleasant. The veterans will extend accolades to the departed veteran, which are so justly deserved at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
