Ruth H. (Zimmerman) Brinker, 89, of Armbrust, passed away Friday, Nov. 10, 2017, peacefully at home, with family members at her side. She was born Nov. 13, 1927, in Unity Township, daughter of the late Edward and Edna Huffman Zimmerman. She attended Calvary Baptist Church of New Stanton. Prior to her retirement, she worked at Owens and Minors of Greensburg. Ruth was a 1945 honors graduate of Greensburg High School. Preceding her in death was her husband of 62 years, Eugene O. Brinker, in 2010. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Edward Jr., George and Glenn Zimmerman. She was the loving mother to Judith Trout Childers, of Armbrust, Janet (Chuck) Kostner, of Wellington, Ohio, and William (Tammy) Brinker, of Armbrust; the loving grandmother to Amy, Becky, Ryan, Erin, William Jr. and Tabitha: a loving great-grandmother to Jusin, Hope, Travis, Ashley, Jacob, Lucy, Leo, Paulette, Alexandria Gregory and Avery, with an additional great-granddaughter expected to arrive in March 2018; plus a loving great-great-grandmother to Alice and Maya. She is survived by a brother, Richard Zimmerman. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME in Norvelt. Additional visitation will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Calvary Baptist Church, New Stanton, followed by her funeral at 11 a.m. in the church with Pastor Richard Sementilli officiating. Please go directly to the church. Interment to follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township. The family has requested that contributions may be made to Redstone at Home Hospice, 6 Garden Center Drive-Annex North Greensburg. The family would like to thank all the people who were involved in the excellent care of our mom.
