Sara B. Shaffer

Sara B. Shaffer, 86 of Mt. Pleasant, formerly of Hecla, passed away peacefully June 15, 2016, surrounded by her family. She was born September 14, 1929, the daughter of Harry and Florence Brooks Rupp. Sara was a proud and devoted homemaker and housekeeper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, Joseph “Dutch” B. Shaffer. She was also preceded by an infant brother, three brothers, and one sister. She was the loving mother to Joseph Shaffer, Larry “Chico” (Linda) Shaffer, Joyce (Frank) Rutkowsky, Cindy Cramer, and Sandy (Tony) Wohl; thirteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received 6-8 pm Saturday and 2-4 and 6-8 pm Sunday in the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, 2245 Mt. Pleasant Road, Norvelt. Her funeral service will be 11 am Monday, Pastor Conrad Duncan officiating, in the funeral home with internment to follow at Middle Presbyterian Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant Township.
