Scott Richwine

October 28, 1966 — February 12, 2024

Norvelt

Arnold Scott Richwine loved a monster movie. Any monster would do, but Scott saved his deepest affection for the oversized, shrieking, city-smashing behemoths of 1950s Japan. Many have suspected, and we can now confirm, that it was from multiple re-watchings of Godzilla movies on bootleg VHS that Scott first learned, tragically, to yodel. He honed his yodeling skills under the tutelage of broken collectable Star Wars figures.

Scott specialized in creating something from nothing. He simultaneously held blackbelt rank in the competitive fine arts of Calendar Adulteration, BullScrabble, and Slow Scribblish. With just a few strokes of a marking pen, he could transform the sappiest, most flaccid platitude into a sparkling masterpiece of absurd wit. With the deft placement of a few Scrabble tiles, he could craft the most delicious imaginary compound noun. Such unique words as gnurot and bumpridehut owe their coinage to his creative, crystalline mind. His cartoons were subtly misshapen, his captions legendary.

In the role of Señor Jupi, Scott truly came into his own. He prepared roadkill fox skeletons and he performed ill-advised experiments with solid carbon dioxide, two-liter bottles, and car alarms. He made daft demands of pizza delivery boys. He provided his beloved dog, Sweetie, with patient affection and multiple textured surfaces to lick. He was a state champion grumbler and a world-class mutterer.

Scott Richwine was predeceased by his parents, Arnold and Merdith Richwine, and his sister Alisa Richwine. He is survived by his sisters Cynthia Olson and Vozamer Perkins, his nephews and nieces Justin Olson, Kristen Olson, Tracey Jacquillard, Jacob Jaquillard, Zachary Jacquillard, and Aidan Perkins.

GNU Scott Richwine.
