Thomas A. Heide, 86 of Greensburg passed away peacefully January 17, 2016. He was born in Pleasant Unity on July 30, 1929 and was the son of George and Nellie Mae Frowen Heide. He was a veteran of the US Navy where he served in the Korean War. Thomas was a member of St. Florian Catholic Church, United and the former Forty Martyrs. He also belonged to United Slovak Club, Norvelt Firemen, Hecla Sportsmen, and American Legion. He enjoyed gardening and wood working, and he loved his music. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anna K. Heide, granddaughter Carissa Ann Thomas, brother George Heide and sister-in-law Gloria Heide.
Thomas is survived by his children Diane Patterson of United, David (Sue) Heide of Trauger, Linda (Angelo) DaBiero of South Lyon, MI; grandchildren Brian Thomas, Scott Bando, Michael Bando, Joshua (Vicki) Heide, Jessica Heide, Lindsay Shaffer; four great grandchildren, Chloie, Isabella Heide, Colton Heide, and Kaydence Hissem; brother Walter (Karen) Heide of Mt. Holly, NJ.
Family and friends will be received 2-9 pm Tuesday in the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, 2245 Mt. Pleasant Rd, Norvelt, with a prayer vigil at 3:30 pm. Funeral services will begin at 9:00 am Wednesday with military rites accorded by Latrobe/Derry Veterans Honor Guard followed by transfer prayers at 9:15 am in the funeral home. Funeral Mass at 10:00 am in St. Florian Catholic Church, Rev. John A Sedlack, celebrant. Interment to follow in Forty Martyrs Cemetery. Mr. Heide’s family extends a special thanks to the IMU nurses at Excela Health Latrobe and to Bethlen Hospice.
