Virginia I. Johnson, 90, of Weltytown, passed away Sunday, February 22, 2015 at her home. Born November 21, 1924, in Alice, she was a daughter of the late Leon and Stella Steshoski. Virginia was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Trauger. She enjoyed cooking, baking, puzzles, playing cards, gardening and tending to her flower beds. Prior to retirement, she had been employed as a cook by Westmoreland Manor, and the former Viking Drive-In, Norvelt. In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Anthony D. Johnson in 1993, son in law, Michael Smulkstis; her brothers, John, Joe, Leon, Ed, and William Steshoski; sisters, Stella Westoff, Mary Dillon, Mae Anthony, Flo Huffman, and Adeline Rich. Virginia was the last surviving member of her family. Virginia is survived by two daughters, Patricia Smulkstis, of Weltytown, Joyce (Kenneth) Boyle, of New Alexandria, numerous nieces and nephews, Special friends, Ray and Donna Shick, Nancy Reynolds, Lois Peterson, and Charles Teeters. Family and friends will be received 6-8 PM Tuesday and 2-4 and 6-8 PM Wednesday in the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, 2245 MT. PLEASANT RD., NORVELT 15674, where her service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, With Pastor Mark A. Werner officiating. Interment to follow in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Trauger. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Virginia's name to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 108 Dutch Hill Rd., Latrobe, PA 15650 or Heartland Hospice, 3520 Rt. 30, Bldg. #3, Irwin, PA 15642.
